WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HYPNOTHERAPY?
What is hypnosis?
You may be surprised to know that hypnosis is actually a very normal, enjoyable state of mind and body that we all experience every single day of our lives. And we enter this hypnotic state of our own doing. It’s that wonderful feeling of being deeply relaxed, ‘zoning’ out, or daydreaming.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is basically getting into that state of mind on purpose. The reason you would want to do this is because that state of mind is very effective; it is a very efficient state of mind where you can perform at your best, desired change can be achieved much more rapidly and your quality of life can be improved.
How does it work?
Our brain works in a similar way to a computer – it has a processor and a hard drive. The processor is in charge of critical thinking, analysing and interpreting data – it is called the conscious mind. And we also have a subconscious mind, which is similar to the hard drive of a computer. It’s where all the information and data is stored - your patterns, habits (good and bad), beliefs and memories. And these exist and function without you having to think about it.
During hypnosis, the conscious control of the mind is relaxed, and the subconscious mind is awoken into a heightened state of awareness.
Hypnosis is thought to work by altering our state of consciousness in a way that the left hand, analytical side of the brain is turned off, while the right hand, non-analytical side is made more alert. It is this right side of the brain, the subconscious part, which has to change for a person’s behaviour and physical state to alter.
Can I be hypnotised?
Yes, yes, yes….unless a person is unconscious or suffers a psychotic illness, they can be hypnotised, providing they want to be hypnotised. Whilst under hypnosis, a person cannot be made do anything or say anything they would not ordinarily do. They remain fully in control and aware of the situation and are not vulnerable to every command of the therapist.
So, if you want to change a behavioural habit or addiction, if you want to engage in your own healing ability, if you want to lead a more satisfying and fulfilling life, achieve your goals, and reach your full potential, call Jai for an appointment and discover the
